Absolutely! Anyone can do SEO and make SEO affordable. It’s just a question of how much time and effort you’re willing to put in. The basics are easy. A little bit of keyword research, some planning, and then some on-page optimisation and boom, you just did some critical SEO work. But SEO isn’t just about mentioning your chosen keyword on a page; aside from there being more caveats to this one method, there’s also a multitude of other elements which need to be considered to get some truly explosive results. Your sites backlink profile, its authority, its accessibility, readability and even more complicated stuff about your sites web vitals all impact your sites ability to rank highly. If you want to know more about Google’s Web Core Vitals, check out our simple explanation here. That’s when you need to do more digging and more learning into each of these areas.

2. How can I do SEO for Free?

Pretty much every element of SEO can be done for free, it’s easy to carry out affordable SEO on your website. Just keep in mind that you get out what you put in. You could optimise your website for the keywords you THINK will get more traffic. You could obtain backlinks to sites you THINK will increase your domain authority. But at the end of the day, those keywords could be highly competitive, making them almost impossible to rank for without an effective strategy and some serious commitment. Plus, if you thought of those keywords off the top of your head, then no doubt every other company in your industry did too. You want a niche, good traffic, low competition keywords. How do you find them? By investing in a good keyword research tool. Those sites you thought would help increase your domain authority with some valuable backlinks could have a high spam profile which would in fact harm your ranking power. The only way to know is with the right software. Your SEO decisions, and your marketing decisions for that matter, should always be data-driven. Guessing and intuition will only get you so far if anywhere at all.

3. How do I create a keyword strategy?

First things first, conduct some in-depth keyword research. You’re looking for highly relevant keywords with good traffic and low competition. Then, you need to assign these words to each relevant page on your site. It’s important to map these keywords to your pages to avoid cannibalisation. This is basically when more than one of your pages are ranking for the same term. To quote JK Rowling, ‘neither can live while the other survives. Then, all you need to do is think up some relevant content that is useful and helpful to your audience in order to boost these pages performance. These could be videos, blog posts or landing pages (more on those later). Then reference or link your content back to that page you want to rank. The trick here is to make sure your content and your ranking page are linked and relevant to each other. For example, we mentioned earlier Google’s Web Core vitals and gave you a little link to our article on that subject. These two pieces of content are now linked together and will help each other’s rankings. This all ties in with clustering your content and keywords, but we’ll give you the lowdown on that a little later. 4. What is search intent?

Search intent is very much what it says on the tin. It’s what a user is actually looking for when they search a web browser. Most of the time, a user is searching for some specific answer, information or product when they search. Think of cookies (I usually am); someone searching for a ‘cookie recipe’ has a very different goal than someone searching for ‘cookie delivery’ or even someone just searching ‘cookies’. Search intent is super important to Google. Keep in mind that the way search engines like Google, Bing and even Yahoo work are by indexing all websites and presenting the most relevant results to a user based on their search, your website then competes amongst that index for the proverbial ‘lime light’. Whichever website can demonstrate it’s the most relevant to a search is the winner. So it’s always vital that when you’re creating your SEO strategy and doing any keyword research that you think about search intent. Moz has an excellent guide that goes into why search intent is so important, we recommend you check it out.

5. How can I effectively do SEO myself?
